The Tales of Upon is a fantasy book series for children 9+, though adults are very welcome and might enjoy them too!

Book 1 The Hood, the Witch and the Zombie
Things are not going well in the magical kingdom of Upon. Something has happened to the King, and all of the heroes sent to find a cure have mysteriously disappeared.

Resident witch, Agnes, has reached out into… well, somewhere other than Upon, to find a hero who can save the King. One arrives in the shape of Oliver, a very average and distinctly unheroic ten-year-old boy. Unfortunately, a somewhat dead boy.
​
As if this wasn’t inconvenient enough, Oliver ends up in the hands of The Sol Sisters, who, with the help of Morticus Necrossa, bring him back from the dead, more or less. But, to their frustration, Oliver escapes with the help of something akin to a large talking chicken.
​
To make matters worse, another boy arrives at the same time as Oliver and is found by The Hood, Agnes’s bitter rival.
​
Things go downhill from there, and Oliver finds himself the focus of everyone’s attention. The Sol Sisters want to capture him, Morticus wants to study him, The Hood wants to make him dead again, and Agnes wants to send him on a quest to cure the King. And Oliver, well, at the moment, he just wants to stay on the back of a giant running chicken.
